Historical tweeting experiment

Before embarking on a family road trip last week I grabbed my copy of The Exploration of the Colorado River and Its Canyons, John Wesley Powell's account of his 1869 trip down the Green and Colorado Rivers. It has been a few years since I've read it, and it wasn't until a picnic lunch at Green River, Wyoming's Expedition Island Park that I realized his trip, shifted by 142 years, is happening now.
