New Releases From GIS-Python

We're waiting until people get back to work to announce on Freshmeat, FreeGIS, and plone.org, but there is now a new PrimaGIS 0.5 release, supported by releases of ZCO 0.7 and PCL 0.10. This first release from the new project site features integration with the MochiKit AJAX library, compatibility with Plone 2.1, a users manual, and a host of other improvements.

PrimaGIS 0.5 and ZCO (Cartographic Objects for Zope) 0.7 are available from http://gispython.org/downloads/zope/. Kai has made it easy to upgrade your existing PrimaGIS 0.4 site, and we've greatly improved the useability of the ZCO datastores.

For 0.10, the Python Cartographic Library has been refactored into a PCL-Referencing package and a PCL-Cartography package. The first can be installed and used independently of the other. There is also greatly improved support for building the packages on Win32, and support for using setuptools on Linux. See the PCL 0.10 release note and the PCL wiki for more details.

I want to thank the following folks for helping make these releases possible: John Graham, Yves Moisan, Josh Livni, Jean-Denis Giguere, and Howard Butler.
